Resident Engineer – Civil (Substations, Transmission lines)

Roles and responsibilities:

Act as Resident Civil Engineer to deliver the Owner Engineer assignment. Civil administration

Engineering portfolio for power substations, cables and transmission lines project including

Technical, health, safety, environmental and financial performance of projects.

The work will include site supervision/management of complex technical works for the client

(Transco), in addition to managing customer interfaces.

Reporting Lines:

This role reports to the T&D Product Manager, and operationally to the Lead or Resident Engineer

Resident engineer coordinator for the project.

The role will require and may require supporting site/head office efforts for this project as well

Support site/head office efforts for other projects in the region.

Job Functions (DUTIES & Responsibilities):

• Conduct site surveys, collect data, and coordinate with all stakeholders

• Review design and shop drawings and hold technical meetings when required

• Construction works of substations, cables and overhead transmission lines (preferably

high voltage and high voltage)

• Supervision of soil investigations, geotechnical, geophysical, etc.

• Piling work in different soil conditions and pile tests

• Corrosion protection, coating requirements, procedures and applications

• Testing of civil materials in laboratories

• Preparing platforms and access roads

• Conduct site and progress meetings

• Monitoring and issuing certificates for the progress of civil works

• Close coordination with all other project disciplines

• Monitor progress and prepare reports

• Progress certificate for the contractor’s work on a monthly basis

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Requirement:

• Actively participate in all HSE activities such as HSE induction, HSE training and communications

Consultancy, HSE monitoring and on-site risk and incident reporting.

• Monitor and coordinate all aspects of health, safety, environment, hazard and risk assurance

Reduced to the lowest practicable level, (see AD EHSMS RF-Element-02-Risk

administration).

• Ensure information is provided to the client / TRACTEBEL HO regarding residual risks and

Risks by the main contractor.

• Monitor main contractor and subcontractor compliance with all regulatory and site requirements

HSE requirements and notifying the main contractor of all HSE and non-HSE risks

Compliance specified on site.

• Provide periodic reports to the client/TRACTEBEL HO HSE performance and compliance

Main contractor and subcontractor as per AD EHSMS RF-Element requirements

07-Monitoring, investigation and reporting.

• Monitor main contractor’s HSE compliance to ensure compliance on a regular basis

To all regulatory and HSE requirements and inform the client/TRACTEBEL of the results

he.

• Notify the customer / TRACTEBEL HO immediately of any persistent or non-conformities

Serious health, safety and environmental violations from contractors and ensuring zero tolerance on these issues and

Record all results and instructions from the client / TRACTEBEL HO.

Desired candidate profile:

Your capabilities (degree, experience, other certificates if necessary, personal skills).

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with equivalency from the Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates

• Minimum 15+ years of experience in related field

• Experience in the TRANSCO network, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, and Al Ain Distribution Company

• Fluency in English (written and spoken)

• Excellent correspondence skill on contractual and technical matters

• Team performance

• Contacting the client’s specialized engineers

• Excellent computer knowledge (MS-Office)

• It is preferable to have work experience in the UAE/GCC countries

• It is preferred to have a valid UAE/GCC driving license

• Comprehensive experience in project coordination
