Waitress

Responsibilities:

Greet and escort customers to their tables
Provide the menu and provide detailed information when asked (for example, about portions, ingredients, or possible food allergies)
Set the tables by setting out linens, silverware, and glasses
Inform customers of the day’s special offers
Provide menu recommendations upon request
Sell additional products where appropriate
Get accurate food and beverage orders using point-of-sale ordering software, order slips, or by rote memorization
Verify customers’ identities to ensure they meet the minimum age requirements for consuming alcoholic beverages
Communicate order details to kitchen staff
Submitting food and drink orders
Inspect dishes and kitchen utensils to ensure their cleanliness and presentation, and report any problems
Arrange table settings and keep the dining area tidy
Deliver checks and collect bill payments
Carry dirty plates, cups, and silverware into the kitchen to clean
Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, menu changes and service specifications for reservations (e.g. parties)
Follow all relevant Ministry of Health regulations
Provide excellent customer service to guests

Requirements and skills:

Proven work experience as a waiter or waitress
Hands-on experience with a cash register and order information system (such as Revel POS or Toast POS)
Basic mathematics skills
Attention and patience to customers
Excellent presentation skills
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
Active listening and effective communication skills
Team spirit
Flexibility to work in shifts
high school certificate; Food safety training is a plus
