The waiter or waitress and the captain

Greet and escort customers to their tables

• Provide the menu and provide detailed information when asked (for example, about portions, ingredients, or possible food allergies)

• Prepare the tables by preparing linens, silverware, and cups

• Inform customers of the day’s special offers

• Provide menu recommendations upon request

• Sell additional products when required

• Get accurate food and drink orders, using point-of-sale ordering software, order slips, or rote memorization

• Communicate order details to kitchen staff

• Submitting food and drink orders

• Check the cleanliness of dishes and kitchen utensils and the way they are presented, and report any problems

• Arrange table settings and keep the dining area tidy

• Deliver checks and collect bill payments

• Carry dirty plates, cups, and silverware into the kitchen to clean

• Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, menu changes and service specifications for reservations (e.g. reservations);

• Follow all relevant Ministry of Health regulations

• Provide excellent customer service to guests
