Job Description

• Ensure that work being carried out complies with international industry standards, project specifications, bids, work instructions, procedures and manuals as applicable.
• Develop integrated work plans in accordance with regulatory requirements and specifications.
• Perform in-process and final inspections in the shop and on board the vessel.
• Participate in the definition of work as required.
• Perform material inspection of electrical equipment, appliances and other miscellaneous items.
• Inspect cable tray manufacturing facility including assembly, coating and protection.
• Inspect all types of electrical cables, appliances and communications in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
• Inspection of the installation of all types of electrical equipment, devices, communications and control panels.
• View and inspect testing of high voltage cables, fiber optic cables, CAT cables and coaxial cables.
• View and inspect Megger and continuity testing of electrical systems including cables and equipment.
• Observe and verify bolt tightening torque on bus bars, switchboard electrical terminals, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, bids, work instructions, procedures, and manuals as required.
• Perform installation inspections and instrument piping tests.
• Perform area completion inspections.
• View and test ground continuity test/low resistance test inspections.
• Perform inspections and measurements using insulation tester, clamp meter, multimeter, low resistance (channel) tester, OTDR tester, torque wrench, etc.
• Perform inspections to ensure all installations are performed to specified standards.
• Coordinate with mechanical completion engineers and assist them in inspection, completion, and documentation operations.
• Detailed inspections of equipment in hazardous areas.
• Report non-conformance issues with fittings and equipment and advise construction crew on correct installation practices.
• Conduct inspections and create task lists, if any, in accordance with the project work plan and completion philosophy. • Responsible for closing and updating inspection lists in coordination with the inspection list owner and creator.
• Coordinate and liaise with classification societies, third party inspection agencies, ship officials and other craftsmen, to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Stop operations if not meeting specified requirements, report the occurrence, develop corrective and preventive actions and ensure rework to client satisfaction.
• Collect, update and submit all relevant inspection records, international inspection reports/ship inspection reports and prepare final files as per project requirements.

 

Qualifications/Experience and Skills

• Electrical/machinery engineering training and knowledge is essential.
• Degree/Diploma in relevant field
• Knowledge of electrical, machinery and telecommunications inspection testing techniques, international standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to read and understand design drawings such as piping and ducting diagrams, single line, finishing, general arrangement, etc.
• Good knowledge and experience in handling on-site quality control and completion inspections, line walks, and other process inspections.
• Good knowledge and experience of the various processes involved in construction activities and related quality requirements.
• Knowledge of the mechanical completion process and related documentation.
• Knowledge and experience in shipyard or similar facility operations with MC activities for conversions and new construction.
