Job Description
• Pre-plan jobs and provide feedback to senior supervisor on work sequences, manpower and equipment requirements.
• Coordinate with Project Manager, inspectors, other craftsmen and within the department to execute the job smoothly.
• Ensure that procedures for handling consumables are strictly followed.
• Ensure that welding equipment used is validated and tested.
• Ensure that WPS shows specific scope of work and welders are aware of and comply with the requirements.
• Ensure that all welders follow WT requirements
• Ensure that all welding supervision responsibilities are followed as set out in Appendix 1 of DDWD ISO 3834-2 manual.
• Ensure efficient and productive utilization of assigned manpower, consumables and materials thereby achieving the assigned schedule to meet the set objective.
• Ensure that all work is carried out to the required standards and within the assigned time frame.
• Communicate with other discipline/supervision managers to ensure optimal use of available resources, with the overall goal of successful project completion.
• Distribute welders based on experience and monitor performance through periodic inspections during the process.
• Conduct internal inspections to ensure work is performed to standards before sending for customer/quality control inspections.
• Report work progress, planned start/finish dates against work order, and job rotation for next shift as required by supervisor.
• Train, motivate, evaluate, and provide feedback on training requirements to elevate skills of subordinates.
• Practice workplace discipline to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices, and downtime.
• Proactively participate in identifying onboard/shop faults and generating effective reports through NCIR system.
• Monitoring daily operations related to the particular job to ensure business continuity.
Experience/Qualifications and Skills:
• Extensive knowledge of different types of steel structures, steelwork and welding procedure specifications.
• Industrial training certificate or equivalent.
• A two-year vocational training course.
• At least 3 years of welding experience as a foreman or foreman.
